BMW has recently given a minor facelift to its 4-series Gran Coupe and i4 models for the 2022 lineup. Even though the changes are subtle, there are some noticeable updates to both vehicles.

Starting at £43,830, the petrol-engined 4-series Gran Coupe and the electric i4, priced at £50,365, have received some new design and trim details. One of the changes includes new matte finish kidney grille surrounds, upgraded LED highlight units, and restyled tail lights. In addition, BMW has introduced two new metallic paint colors – Cape York Green and Fire Red – along with new 19- and 20-inch alloy wheel designs.

Inside the vehicles, the i4 and 4-series Gran Coupe now come standard with a two-spoke steering wheel. The M Sport models have a flat-bottom rim and a red 12 o’clock stripe. The petrol car also features wheel-mounted paddle shifters to control the eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Both models have BMW’s curved dual-screen iDrive infotainment system with the option to add a glass CraftedClarity rotary controller at an extra cost. The system runs on BMW’s iDrive 8.5 software, offering a voice assistant, an augmented-reality head-up display, and remote smartphone access to vehicle functions. The i4 has a revised charging planner in the navigation system as well.

In terms of powertrains, the 4-series Gran Coupe offers a range of options, starting with the 181bhp 420i at £43,830. The M440i model features a 369bhp turbocharged straight-six engine with four-wheel drive for £59,545. The i4 lineup includes the eDrive35 with 282bhp and a 311-mile range starting at £50,365. The eDrive40 comes with a more powerful 335bhp rear motor and a larger battery for a range of 373 miles, commanding an £8095 premium. The range-topping i4 M50 boasts a 537bhp dual-motor powertrain with a 3.9-second 0-62mph time, priced just under £70k.

If you are a fan of these models, you can expect the first deliveries of the updated versions to start in July of this year. The new changes may be subtle, but they add a touch of freshness to the already popular 4-series Gran Coupe and i4 models.
