America missed out on previous rare M5 Touring models, but BMW is set to introduce the new M5 Touring in a couple of weeks. The G99 will be unveiled on August 15 at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, alongside a special one-off sedan version. Unlike the typical “Sports Wagon” designation used for 3 Series and 5 Series in the US, the new M5 Touring will retain the “Touring” name popular in Europe. Production is expected to start in November, with deliveries scheduled for next spring.

While technical details are currently under wraps, the M5 Touring is likely to feature the same plug-in hybrid V-8 setup as the sedan. Anticipate a powerful twin-turbo 4.4-liter gasoline engine combined with an electric motor to deliver an impressive 717 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. With a 14.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the sedan can achieve an estimated 25 miles of electric range, although the wagon may have a slightly lower range due to added weight. Despite its potential weight increase, the M5 Touring is expected to offer thrilling performance, even though it may not match the sedan’s quick 0-60 mph time of 3.4 seconds.

The pricing for the M5 Touring is projected to be higher than the sedan’s starting price of $120,675, which can escalate to $141,375 for a fully loaded model. If you can’t wait for the Touring version, the regular M5 will be available for delivery starting in November. The first M5 Touring to arrive in North America will be the unique car mentioned earlier, scheduled to arrive at the end of October.

Stay tuned for more updates on the new BMW M5 Touring as details are revealed closer to the official debut date. Excitement is building as BMW enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the arrival of this high-performance wagon with its impressive powertrain and European-inspired design.
