Porsche Panamera’s Power Play: Introducing the GTS and Turbo S E-Hybrid Models

In a world where hybrid performance cars are setting new standards, Porsche has once again raised the bar with the latest additions to its Panamera range. The introduction of the new GTS and Turbo S E-Hybrid models solidifies the Panamera’s position as a powerhouse in the luxury sports sedan segment.

The Turbo S E-Hybrid, in particular, stands out with its electrified twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers a staggering 771bhp, surpassing even the McLaren 750S in power. This new flagship model combines a 4-litre V8 engine generating 592bhp with a 187bhp electric motor integrated into an eight-speed PDK gearbox. The result is a significant increase in performance, with peak power up by 101bhp and torque boosted to 738lb ft. The Turbo S E-Hybrid can now sprint from 0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds and achieve a top speed of 202mph.

Not only does the Turbo S E-Hybrid offer blistering acceleration and top speed, but it also boasts improved electric range thanks to a larger 25.9kWh battery. Drivers can now travel up to 55 miles on electric power alone before the combustion engine kicks in. With an onboard 11kW AC charger, the battery can be fully recharged in around two and a half hours, making it convenient for daily use.

To handle the added power and weight of the Turbo S E-Hybrid, Porsche has equipped the flagship model with its advanced Active Ride suspension system as standard. This system uses a hydraulic pump to control suspension forces at each damper, ensuring a level body under high loads and enhancing ride comfort. Rear-wheel steering and a carbon ceramic braking system with massive 440mm front discs further enhance the Panamera’s handling and stopping power.

In addition to its impressive performance capabilities, the Turbo S E-Hybrid also receives a new carbon fibre aero kit that includes a front spoiler, side skirt extensions, and a rear diffuser. These aerodynamic enhancements increase downforce by 60kg at 124mph, improving stability and grip at high speeds. The Panamera is also offered with 21-inch forged wheels and specially designed Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires for enhanced track performance.

Porsche has demonstrated the Turbo S E-Hybrid’s track prowess with a record-breaking lap time at the Nürburgring, setting a time of 7:24.172 around the Nordschleife loop. This impressive feat showcases the model’s capabilities and highlights its track-ready credentials.

On the other end of the spectrum, the new Panamera GTS offers a more dynamic driving experience without sacrificing performance. Powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 493bhp, the GTS delivers a 0-62mph time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 188mph. The model features a standard-fit sports exhaust, dual-chamber air suspension, and adaptive dampers with a GTS-specific setup for a more engaging driving experience.

The GTS also benefits from chassis tuning and a lighter powertrain setup, designed to enhance agility and responsiveness on the road. With torque distributed to all four wheels and a locking PTV Plus differential at the rear, the GTS offers improved traction and handling in various driving conditions.

Both the Turbo S E-Hybrid and GTS models are now available for order, with first deliveries expected in the second half of 2024. With their combination of power, performance, and luxury, these new additions to the Panamera range reaffirm Porsche’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive excellence.
