Porsche is known for its luxurious cars, but they have also been venturing into the overlanding trend in recent years. They have introduced various aftersales components to make their vehicles, such as the Cayenne or 911, more rugged and capable off-road. One of their latest innovations is the new “multifunctional Porsche Canopy Tent,” designed to provide comfort and convenience when you reach your overlanding destination.
This inflatable back door attachment features removable walls and can be used as a sun shade measuring approximately 7.5 feet by 7.5 feet when you are away from your vehicle. It offers free-standing weather protection on the beach, a cozy lounge at the campsite, or a practical secluded spot in the garden. The tent can be inflated in minutes using a central valve and quickly anchored to the ground with the storm-resistant fastening set and reflective belts.
The tent comes with a practical hand pump, a side panel with a transparent plastic window, a floor cover with Velcro fasteners, and a vehicle connecting tunnel. The vehicle connecting tunnel is a weatherproof corridor that connects the canopy tent to the tailgate of a four-door Porsche, providing easy access between the two.
Unlike the Pontiac Aztek’s camping tent, which was introduced years ago and is now no longer in production, the Porsche Canopy Tent was designed by Studio F.A. Porsche in Switzerland, ensuring a high-quality and stylish design. It is constructed in black and grey with a topographic map graphic, giving it a modern and sleek look.
Porsche also offers an “optionally available extension tent” that angles off the side of the canopy tent, as well as walls and mesh inserts for added protection and privacy. If you are camping with another person who also has a Cayenne, you can connect your canopy tents together using a connecting element provided by Porsche.
While the cost of the inflatable shelter has not been disclosed yet, considering that Porsche’s roof top tent is priced at $5,295, the Canopy Tent is expected to be a premium accessory. The Canopy Tent is a versatile and innovative addition to Porsche’s lineup of overlanding accessories, offering both style and functionality for outdoor enthusiasts.
