Maserati is facing some trouble with its GranTurismo and GranCabrio models due to a fuel gauge issue. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for 524 vehicles, including 454 GranTurismos and 70 GranCabrios, built between November 20, 2022, and July 4, 2024.

The problem lies in the body control module software, which may display the wrong fuel level. This can be quite dangerous as it could lead to an unexpected engine stall and potentially result in a crash. Luckily, there have been no reported injuries or accidents related to this issue so far.

Maserati first became aware of the problem in July 2023 when a quarter tank of gas was shown on the instrument panel despite the tank being empty. After a year-long investigation, it was determined that the issue was caused by a BCM software problem.

To address the problem, Maserati dealers will reflash the BCM software to ensure that the correct fuel level is displayed on the gauge cluster. Owners of the affected vehicles should expect to receive notification letters by October 24 and can contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737 for more information.

It’s essential for Maserati owners to stay informed and take action promptly to avoid any potential safety risks associated with this fuel gauge problem. Keeping an eye on the fuel level and contacting customer service for assistance can help ensure a safe driving experience. Let’s hope that this issue will be resolved swiftly and effectively to keep Maserati drivers safe on the road.
