I recently came across a unique Ducati Monster from the 1990s that caught my attention. As a Ducati enthusiast, I have always admired the pre-2001 carbureted models, and this particular chromed-out bike stood out to me. When I saw the listing on Bring A Trailer, I knew I had to make a move. I even got the green light from my wife to bid on it, despite going slightly over my budget. But hey, sometimes you have to go for it, right?
The Ducati Monster series played a significant role in saving the company and revolutionizing the motorcycle industry. The design of the Monster was a clever combination of parts from other Ducati models, resulting in a unique and stylish urban machine. This bike not only looks great but also offers a lightweight and powerful riding experience that sets it apart from other motorcycles in my collection.
In 1999, Ducati released a limited edition model called the Monster 900 Cromo, featuring a chrome fuel tank and several other upgrades. This particular bike, which I purchased from the original owner, comes with some additional aftermarket modifications that enhance its performance and aesthetics. While it may need a few maintenance tasks like a belt service and new tires, I am excited to work on it as a winter project.
Although I won’t be able to pick up the bike until late October due to travel plans, I am confident that it has been well-maintained and will be a joy to ride. The previous owner has taken good care of it and put some miles on it, which is a good sign that it has been enjoyed as it was meant to be. I can’t wait to get my hands on it and hit the road with this unique Ducati Monster 900 Cromo.
