Audi has been a pioneer in the electric vehicle (EV) market, starting with the E-Tron SUV in 2019. The latest addition to their EV lineup is the 2024 Audi Q6 E-Tron, set to hit the U.S. market at the end of 2024. The Q6 E-Tron fills the gap between the Q8 E-Tron SUV and the Q4 E-Tron SUV, following Audi’s even-number naming convention for EVs. The Q6 E-Tron is built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) shared with the Porsche Macan, featuring an 800-volt architecture that optimizes battery efficiency.

Both the Q6 and SQ6 E-Trons are powered by a 100-kilowatt-hour battery pack, with 94.4 kWh of usable energy. The Q6 E-Tron boasts 422 horsepower under normal conditions and up to 456 hp in launch mode, while the SQ6 E-Tron offers 483 hp nominally and 509 hp in launch mode. The Q6 E-Tron is estimated to have a range of 307 miles on a single charge, with the SQ6 E-Tron slightly lower at 276 miles. The SQ6 E-Tron is expected to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, faster than the Q6’s 4.9-second sprint.

The SQ6 E-Tron offers a sportier driving experience, with sportier suspension and brakes, making it the preferred choice for enthusiasts. An even more performance-oriented RS Q6 E-Tron is in the works, anticipated to deliver over 600 horsepower and enhanced driving dynamics. The interior of the Q6 E-Tron features a simplistic design, with a digital instrument panel and a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen. Additional features include a front passenger touchscreen for navigation and entertainment purposes.

The Q6 E-Tron impresses with its one-pedal driving capability and smooth handling, making it an effortless and enjoyable ride. The SQ6 E-Tron offers a more dynamic driving experience without compromising comfort. Both models represent a solid evolution in Audi’s electric vehicle lineup, offering a balanced blend of performance and luxury. The Q6 and SQ6 E-Trons are set to compete with rivals like the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV and BMW iX, providing a more accessible option for luxury electric SUV shoppers.

Overall, the 2024 Audi Q6 E-Tron and SQ6 E-Tron deliver a competent and approachable driving experience, setting a high standard in the luxury EV market. With the upcoming RS Q6 E-Tron expected to raise the bar even further, Audi’s electric SUV lineup continues to evolve, offering a compelling option for a wide range of consumers.
