BYD has introduced the 2024 Atto 3 electric SUV with a range of new features and design updates, all at a reduced price. The new model starts at $44,499 before on-road costs, making it more affordable than ever before. The Atto 3 is available in two model grades – Standard and Extended – with variations in battery capacity, driving range, and fast-charging power.
Some of the exterior changes include black trim on the rear window pillars, new rear BYD badges, and the introduction of the Cosmos Black exterior color. The previous 215/55 Atlas Batman A51 tires have been replaced with wider and higher-quality 235/50 Continental EcoContact 6 tires for better grip in wet conditions.
Inside, the Atto 3 boasts a new blue and black interior color scheme with red stitching, along with a larger 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen that now includes a karaoke feature. Apple CarPlay is now wireless, and there’s a new camping mode that allows for air conditioning use when the vehicle is turned off and the battery has over 20% charge.
Standard equipment in both models includes 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, synthetic leather-look seat upholstery, heated power-adjustable front seats, panoramic sunroof, and a full suite of safety features. The Atto 3 Standard comes with a 49.92kWh battery pack providing 345km of driving range, while the Extended model upgrades to a 60.48kWh battery with 420km of range.
Both models are powered by a 150kW/310Nm electric motor and use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. The Atto 3 Standard has a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of 7.9 seconds, while the Extended model can do it in 7.3 seconds. The maximum DC fast charging power is 70kW for the Standard and 88kW for the Extended.
The 2024 BYD Atto 3 is now available for purchase in Australia. The Standard model starts at $44,499, while the Extended model is priced at $47,499, both excluding on-road costs. The Atto 3 comes in various color options, including Ski White, Cosmos Black, Surf Blue, and Boulder Grey.
