Ferrari is making big moves with its new e-building factory in Maranello, Italy. The CEO, Benedetto Vigna, explained that the focus of the new facility is not to increase the number of cars produced, but rather to enhance manufacturing flexibility and reduce the time it takes to develop and release new models.
This investment of around 200 million euros will also mark Ferrari’s entry into the fully electric (EV) car market, with the first EV expected to hit the roads by the end of next year. Vigna emphasized the importance of personalization for customers, highlighting the need for more flexibility to cater to individual preferences both inside and outside the car.
The new 42,500 square meter e-building will house an additional car assembly line, increasing Ferrari’s overall production capacity to around 20,000 cars per year. This expansion will not only enable the production of EVs but also hybrid and traditional combustion-engine models, reflecting Ferrari’s strategy to offer a variety of engine types to meet different customer needs.
Key components for EVs, such as axles, motors, and batteries, will be produced in-house at the new facility. This move towards electrification aligns with Ferrari’s commitment to technological neutrality, allowing the company to adapt quickly to changing production demands and streamline operations across its Maranello facilities.
The first cars from the new plant are set to roll out in January of next year, with series production of Ferrari’s first EV scheduled to begin in January 2026. The price tag for the first EV is expected to be no less than half a million euros, positioning it as a high-end luxury offering in the electric vehicle market.
