In 2024, GM Performance surprised the automotive world with a turbocharged Corvette ZR1 that boasts over 1,000 horsepower, making it the most powerful Corvette to date. The 2025 ZR1 will be equipped with GM’s new twin-turbo LT7 V8 engine, featuring a flat-plane crank and single-scroll 76 mm turbochargers that deliver an impressive 1,064 horsepower and 828 pound-feet of torque. The power is transmitted through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, enabling the ZR1 to achieve a top speed of over 215 mph and complete a quarter-mile run in under 10 seconds.

The LT7 engine features several enhancements compared to its predecessor, the LT6, including secondary port fuel injection, new head castings, redesigned valve train timing, and a completely new intake system. The aerodynamic design of the ZR1 has also been improved, with a new “flow-through” hood that enhances front downforce and charged air temperatures. The ZR1 comes standard with various aero features, including a front splitter, underwing, and rocker moldings, while the ZTK package adds a rear wing, front dive planes, and hood gurney lip.

The ZR1’s chassis is managed by GM’s Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 system and is equipped with 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels wrapped in Michelin performance tires. The ZTK package includes stiffer springs and Pilot Sport Cup 2-R tires for enhanced performance. With a dry weight of 3,670 pounds for the coupe and 3,758 pounds for the convertible, the ZR1’s carbon fiber construction contributes to its impressive performance.

The 2025 ZR1 marks the end of an era as the last Corvette designed under the leadership of legendary Corvette engineer Tadge Juechter. With its groundbreaking performance capabilities and advanced technology, the ZR1 is sure to make a lasting impression when it hits showrooms next year.
