A powerful new version of the Lexus LBX city SUV is set to arrive in Australian showrooms next year. The 2025 Lexus LBX Morizo RR will be equipped with the same engine found in the Toyota GR Yaris, producing over 200kW of power and featuring all-wheel drive.

While the Australian version of the LBX Morizo RR will have more power than the hybrid model, it will be slightly detuned compared to the Japanese-market version. The Australian model will only offer an eight-speed automatic transmission, unlike the manual option available in Japan.

The LBX Morizo RR is a limited volume car, with no specific production cap mentioned by Lexus. Pricing details have not been confirmed yet, but it is expected to be priced above the Toyota GR Yaris manual, which starts at $51,390 plus on-road costs.

The name Morizo comes from the racing alias of Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda, who is known for his passion for cars and involvement in the development of the LBX. The engine powering the LBX Morizo RR in Australia is a 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder unit producing 206kW and 390Nm, slightly lower than the Japanese version.

The LBX Morizo RR features an all-wheel-drive system with an AWD Mode that can lock the system in a 50:50 front-to-rear split, similar to the Track mode in the GR Yaris. It has a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 5.2 seconds and weighs 1485kg, with a Torsen limited-slip rear differential and high-performance brakes.

The vehicle offers a sportier design with wider and lower dimensions compared to the regular LBX model. Inside, it features leather-trimmed sports seats, a sports steering wheel, and aluminum pedals. The instrument display includes a central tachometer and offers different views for the driver.

More details about the 2025 Lexus LBX Morizo RR will be revealed closer to its Australian launch in the first half of next year. The vehicle is expected to provide a thrilling driving experience for enthusiasts looking for a high-performance city SUV. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new model.
