Maserati is facing some trouble with its GranTurismo and GranCabrio models due to a fuel gauge issue. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for 524 vehicles, including 454 GranTurismos and 70 GranCabrios, built between November 20, 2022, and July 4, 2024. The problem lies with the body control module software, which may display the wrong fuel level, leading to potential engine stalling and even crashes.
This issue came to light when a customer reported that the instrument panel showed a quarter tank of gas when it was actually empty. Maserati conducted an internal investigation, which revealed that the problem was caused by a software issue in the BCM. While there have been four customer assistance records, four warranty claims, and two field reports related to the problem, fortunately, no injuries or accidents have occurred as a result.
To address the issue, Maserati dealers will reflash the BCM software to ensure the correct fuel level is displayed on the gauge cluster. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent out on October 24, and affected owners can reach out to Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737 for further assistance.
It’s important for Maserati owners to be aware of this recall and take action promptly to avoid any potential safety risks. Keeping an eye on your fuel level and contacting Maserati if you experience any inconsistencies can help prevent any issues on the road. Remember, safety always comes first when it comes to your vehicle.
