Jim Farley, the CEO of Ford, is not your typical car company executive. He’s a true car enthusiast and a lover of motorsports, not just one of those boring old CEOs who only cares about numbers and spreadsheets. In fact, Farley has even been known to get behind the wheel of a race car himself, and he’s pretty darn good at it too. This weekend, he’s gearing up to show off his skills once again at Laguna Seca.

According to some folks over at Ford Authority, Farley will be joining 19 other drivers in the Mustang Challenge, which is an IMSA-sanctioned series where all the drivers race in identical Mustangs. The weekend kicks off with two 30-minute practice sessions and a 15-minute qualifying session, followed by a thrilling 45-minute sprint race.

Farley will be driving the No. 17 Mustang Dark Horse R, the same car he raced in last year’s inaugural event at Mid-Ohio. He already finished 11th in Saturday’s race, and he’s looking to improve his performance in the race on Sunday morning. If you missed Saturday’s race, don’t worry, you can catch all the action on YouTube.

These races at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca will be the third and fourth rounds of a 12-race season that spans six different tracks. Farley isn’t just in it for fun though, he’s a competitive guy who isn’t afraid to challenge other auto executives on the track. After Ford unveiled the 818-horsepower Mustang GTD, Farley confidently declared, “I’ll take track time in a Mustang GTD against any other auto boss in their best road car.” Now that’s some serious confidence right there.

The Mustang Challenge will be live-streamed on Peacock and on the Ford Performance and IMSA YouTube channels, so you can catch all the action from the comfort of your own home. Who knows, maybe you’ll even see Farley taking on some other auto execs in a nail-biting race.
