Toyota is finally jumping on the performance SUV bandwagon with the introduction of the 2026 RAV4 GR Sport. This marks a significant shift for the automaker, considering its previous lack of sporty SUV offerings. The GR Sport trim is making its debut in North America, adding a touch of enthusiast appeal to the popular RAV4 lineup.
The RAV4 GR Sport is equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors, delivering a total of 320 horsepower to all four wheels. While it may not be the most powerful option in the RAV4 lineup, it boasts exclusive tweaks that enhance its performance capabilities. Thanks to specific suspension tuning from Gazoo Racing, enhanced body rigidity, and wider stock summer tires, the GR Sport is set to handle sharper than its counterparts.
In terms of design, the RAV4 GR Sport features a rear wing, chin spoiler, and piano black trim reminiscent of the GR Corolla. The exterior is further accentuated by unique GR badges and a striking Supersonic Red body with a black roof. Pricing details for the RAV4 GR Sport are yet to be revealed, but it is expected to surpass the cost of the GR Corolla due to its advanced features. Stay tuned for more information closer to the launch date later this year.
