Nyobolt, a UK-based company specializing in ultra-fast-charging batteries, has recently unveiled its first running Nyobolt EV prototype in collaboration with CALLUM. This prototype is designed to showcase the company’s high-power density, fast-charging battery technology in a real-world setting. The Nyobolt EV aims to revolutionize the electric vehicle industry by eliminating the inconvenience of long charging times.

Initial testing of the Nyobolt EV using 350kW (800V) DC fast chargers has shown impressive results. The vehicle’s 50Ah 35kWh battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just four minutes and 37 seconds, providing a range of 155 WLTP miles. This charging speed is twice as fast as most current electric vehicles on the market. The Nyobolt EV’s battery cells have also demonstrated exceptional durability, with over 4,000 full fast charge cycles completed while retaining over 80% battery capacity.

Dr. Sai Shivareddy, Nyobolt’s co-founder and CEO, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable battery technology that can withstand high charging rates. While some OEMs offer fast charge times around 15 minutes, Nyobolt’s low impedance cells can extend the battery’s life up to 600,000 miles, providing long-term value for consumers.

The compact size of the 35kWh battery pack in the Nyobolt EV prototype offers benefits to both car manufacturers and drivers. Not only does it recharge quickly, but it also contributes to the overall efficiency of electric vehicles by reducing costs and resources required for manufacturing. The lightweight design of the Nyobolt EV, weighing just 1,250kg, demonstrates the potential for high-performance electric sports cars with improved handling.

In addition to showcasing its battery technology, Nyobolt is exploring the possibility of low-volume production for the Nyobolt EV. Plans for battery assembly are well underway, with the potential for production to begin within a year. The company’s manufacturing model allows for scalable production, with the capacity to produce up to two million cells per year.

Nyobolt’s fast-charging technology has garnered interest from multiple vehicle OEMs and is expected to expand into other industries such as robotics and commercial vehicles. The company’s innovative approach to battery design, led by experts in the field, has positioned Nyobolt as a key player in advancing electric vehicle technology.

Overall, Nyobolt’s unveiling of the Nyobolt EV prototype marks a significant milestone in the evolution of fast-charging battery technology. By addressing the limitations of current lithium-ion batteries and offering a sustainable alternative, Nyobolt is paving the way for a new era of electrification across various sectors.
