In the mid-1980s, the Ferrari Testarossa was considered one of the top supercars of its time. However, some buyers wanted more power and excitement from their Testarossa. This led them to Germany’s Koenig, a tuning company known for specializing in modifying Ferraris, such as the 1985 Testarossa in question.

Originally modified by Koenig in 1986, this particular Testarossa, now up for auction on Bring A Trailer, received an extensive makeover that included changes to the engine, body, and interior. The 4.9-liter twin-turbocharged engine was boosted to an impressive 1000 horsepower, surpassing even a factory Testarossa and a Porsche 959 combined.

Koenig Specials, under the direction of Willy König, were known for their extravagant modifications that pushed the boundaries of power and design. The body kit on this Testarossa, designed by Vittorio Strosek, featured large intakes to cool the overboosted flat-12 engine. The car’s widened stance, massive wheels, and twin exhausts further emphasized its aggressive and unique appearance.

Inside the vehicle, the extravagance continued with luxurious leather upholstery, racing harnesses, a rotary boost dial, and a gated shifter for the manual transmission. The overall result is a truly over-the-top example of 1980s European tuning at its craziest.

If you’re a fan of wild and unconventional supercars from the ’80s, this modified Testarossa is a must-see. Visit Bring A Trailer to view more details and photos of this Koenig Specials Competition Evolution II. The auction for this extraordinary vehicle ends on July 16th.
