Then, in 2016, they pushed the boundaries even further with the Chiron, boasting an incredible 1,500 hp. Both of these cars were powered by the revolutionary 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine. Now, two decades later, Bugatti is once again changing the game with the unveiling of the Bugatti Tourbillon plug-in hybrid hypercar.

The new diffuser concept contributes to the car’s aerodynamic stability, starting from behind the passenger cabin and rising at an ideal angle to maintain balance.
The heart of the Bugatti Tourbillon is its powertrain. Unlike anything seen before, the Tourbillon is powered by an all-new 8.3-liter naturally aspirated V16 engine, developed with Cosworth. Paired with front and rear e-Axles featuring electric motors, the Tourbillon delivers an incredible 1,800 hp, with 1,000 hp from the combustion engine and 800 hp from the electric motors. This exceptional power output is achieved through innovative materials and technology, resulting in an engine that weighs just 252 kg.
The electric motors are powered by a 25 kWh oil-cooled 800V battery, providing four-wheel-drive and full torque-vectoring for optimal traction and agility. The electric powertrain system offers impressive performance, with electric motors spinning up to 24,000 RPM and a dual silicon-carbide inverter. Despite its power, the Tourbillon boasts a usable all-electric range of over 60 km.
In addition to its impressive powertrain, the Bugatti Tourbillon features a new chassis and body structure constructed from next-generation T800 carbon composite. This innovative design incorporates weight-saving features like integrating the battery as a structural part of the monocoque and a unique crash composite rear diffuser. The chassis also includes a multi-link suspension system, forged from aluminum, offering improved weight savings and stiffness compared to the Chiron.
