Caterham is set to bid farewell to the European market with the launch of the Seven 485 Final Edition, limited to just 85 units. Since its introduction in 2014, the Caterham 485 has been a favorite among European customers, boasting a powerful 225bhp Duratec engine, a five-speed manual transmission, and the option for a wider chassis and a CSR version.

Although the 485 may not have the same extreme performance as the supercharged Seven 620 available in the UK, it still offers an impressive power-to-weight ratio, surpassing even that of a 911 GT3 RS. The 2-liter Ford Duratec engine can rev up to 8500rpm, delivering 225bhp and 151lb ft of torque. This allows the lightweight 560kg sports car to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in just 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 139mph.

The Final Edition of the Seven 485 comes with several cosmetic enhancements, including Alcantara and black leather seats, a carbon fiber dashboard, a carpeted interior, and satin black exterior stripes and badging. Each Final Edition model will also feature a numbered plaque and will be available in five distinct paint colors: Golden Saffron, Viper Blue, Volcano Red, Verdes Emes, and Viola Parsifae.

European customers can choose from narrow chassis, wide chassis, or CSR configurations for the 485, with the CSR variant offering inboard front and fully independent rear suspension. Although slightly heavier at 605kg, the CSR version includes a wider chassis, aerodynamic front wings, and larger 15-inch wheels as standard. Additionally, all Final Edition models are equipped with a limited-slip differential and a four-piston front brake setup.

For those seeking a more track-oriented experience, Caterham offers a range of options such as adjustable Bilstein ‘Cup’ dampers, a roll bar or roll cage, a plumbed-in fire extinguisher, and an uprated brake master cylinder. Priced at €67,495 (approximately £58,000) excluding taxes, the Seven 485 Final Edition may not come cheap by Seven standards, but with only 85 units available for Europe and an additional ten units for the Japanese market, it offers exclusivity and performance in one package.
