NHRA legend John Force was involved in a high-speed crash during the Virginia Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park. The 75-year-old Force was alert and communicating with safety workers following the fiery 300mph crash. He was examined by the NHRA Medical Team at the track and then airlifted to a medical facility for further evaluation.
The accident occurred during the first round of Funny Car eliminations when the engine of Force’s car exploded at the finish line. The vehicle veered across the centerline, hitting the left concrete guard wall before rebounding into the right wall. Force, a seasoned racer, has had previous experiences with crashes, including a serious one in 2007 in Texas.
Despite the crash, Force’s teammate Austin Prock emerged victorious in the Funny Car division, defeating Bob Tasca III in the final round. Prock dedicated his win to Force, expressing his admiration for his teammate’s resilience and spirit.
