Ten years ago, a sinkhole in Kentucky caused a stir worldwide when it swallowed part of the National Corvette Museum. This museum is a popular destination for Chevy fans and hosts special events and car deliveries. After the sinkhole incident in 2014, the museum has undergone repairs and now has a special exhibit called “Ground to Sky: The Sinkhole Reimagined.” This exhibit features some of the damaged cars and items from the wreckage, including a ZR-1 Spyder, a 1962 Corvette, and the 1.5 millionth Corvette built.

In addition to the cars, visitors can also see the original sinkhole and the boulder that fell on a rare Corvette model. The museum will showcase its recovery efforts and improvements made to the restaurant and gallery on-site. Guests will learn about the museum’s history pre-sinkhole and can enjoy admission to the Skydome, which offers a view of the boulder.

If you’re planning a summer road trip or vacation, you have until September 15 to visit this special exhibit. Ticket prices are reasonable, but there are options for upgrades that can enhance your experience. For example, you can try out a Corvette racing simulator for $15 or opt for a guided tour for an additional $10.

“We are thrilled to present Ground to Sky: The Sinkhole Reimagined,” said NCM Board Chair Kaye Wagner. “This exhibit allows us to look back on the challenges we faced and the progress we’ve made since then.” Don’t miss this opportunity to witness the aftermath of the sinkhole and see how the museum has recovered from this natural disaster.
