Stellantis made a big announcement last October about their new Pro One plan. This plan is all about making their commercial vehicles business even more successful on a global scale. Stellantis already has six brands in this business, including Citroen, Fiat, Opel, Peugeot, Ram, and Vauxhall. But they want to do even better. They recently launched the Ram ProMaster EV and brought back the Ram Professional. Now, there are rumors that the ProMaster City will be returning to the U.S. market. This van used to compete with the Ford Transit and was sold in the U.S. from 2015 to 2022.

During Stellantis’ Investor Day, Chrysler and Ram boss Chris Feuell spoke to analysts about the changes they’ve made on the commercial side. She mentioned that these changes will lead to record sales for Ram in 2025. She also talked about introducing a new small van to North America with an electric option. This new van will expand Ram Professional’s commercial lineup and provide customers with more options.

According to Mopar Insiders, the Fiat Scudo and E-Scudo vans, which are sold by Fiat Professional in other countries, will serve as the basis for the new ProMaster City. The Scudo offers a variety of size and powertrain options that can be compared to Ford’s Transit Connect. The van comes with features like cargo and passenger buildouts, four-wheel independent suspensions for driver comfort, advanced driver assistance systems for safety, and in-cabin setups like the Moduwork System that can turn the passenger’s seat into a mobile workstation. The E-Scudo, on the other hand, offers two battery sizes, up to 205 miles of range, and fast charging capabilities.

Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares has expressed his vision of competing with Ford for commercial market share. He believes that they have strong arguments to make in this fight. The company plans to introduce the new small van with both ICE and EV power options next year, along with some other surprises in store. Tavares also mentioned that Stellantis is making a big investment in connected services, aiming for the commercial vehicles business to contribute significantly to the company’s net revenue by 2030.

Overall, Stellantis is gearing up for a major push in the commercial vehicles market in the U.S. Their strategic offensive with the Pro One plan aims to make Ram a leader in this segment. With the introduction of new vans like the ProMaster City and a focus on both ICE and EV options, Stellantis is ready to take on the competition and provide customers with innovative solutions for their vehicle needs.
