Peugeot and Citroen are offering massive discounts on their vehicles in Australia as sales of French cars continue to decline in a growing new-car market. With savings of up to $30,000 or 34 percent off, nearly three-quarters of the Peugeot and Citroen line-ups are on special, including recently launched models. The average discount is around $10,000, with some models receiving up to $30,000 off.

Over the past 15 years, sales of Peugeot cars in Australia have decreased, with deliveries flatlining in a market that has seen significant growth. Similarly, Citroen sales have dropped by 94 percent since 2007. Both brands have raised prices over the past five years due to economic pressures, including those related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Peugeot and Citroen have removed entry-level models to focus on higher-priced, more equipped cars with larger profit margins. Despite these changes, the brands are committed to the Australian market and have no plans to leave.

Peugeot is currently offering drive-away specials on various models, such as the 2008 small SUV and the 508 Fastback plug-in hybrid sedan. These discounts represent significant savings compared to regular prices and are set to expire at the end of the month unless extended.

In addition to the current promotions, Peugeot is gearing up to introduce six new electric cars within the next 18 months, including a new 3008 mid-size SUV and the return of the 208 city hatch as electric vehicles.

The drive-away offers provided by Peugeot and Citroen reflect substantial savings for customers, making these French brands more competitive in the Australian market. It is advisable to check with local dealers or the manufacturers’ websites for the most up-to-date information on pricing and offers before making a purchase.
