A security guard in Torrance, California lost his job after engaging in reckless driving on the rooftop of a mall parking garage. The incident, which took place at the Del Amo Fashion Center, was captured on video and shared on social media.
In the video, the security guard can be seen driving erratically on the top floor of the parking garage late at night while being cheered on by onlookers. He was driving a Ford Escape, an unsuitable vehicle for such behavior. Additionally, there was another person inside the car while he was performing these dangerous stunts. At one point in the video, another individual is seen driving a different vehicle up a flight of stairs at the mall.
As a result of the video, the security guard was fired from his position. Allied Universal Security, the company that has a security contract with the Del Amo Fashion Center, stated that the guard’s actions were in direct violation of company policy and unacceptable. They emphasized that such behavior is not tolerated from their team members and the guard was terminated immediately. Furthermore, he may face consequences such as losing his driver’s license.
This incident is not an isolated one at the Del Amo Fashion Center. Earlier this year, a planned takeover and mob gathering at the mall was thwarted by a large number of local police and private security personnel. In December 2023, a mass smash-and-grab event involving thousands of teenagers was planned at the mall, with over 1,000 teens showing up before being dispersed by the authorities.
The reckless behavior of the security guard highlights the importance of following rules and regulations, especially in a professional setting such as mall security. Engaging in dangerous activities not only puts oneself at risk but also endangers others. It serves as a reminder to always act responsibly and adhere to company policies to maintain a safe environment for everyone.
