The Red Bull RB17 hypercar is making waves in the automotive world, but not without a few challenges. With a hefty price tag of £5 million ($6.5 million), the car is already sold out and cannot be legally driven on public roads. However, for the lucky 50 customers who managed to snag one, there is hope on the horizon. Lanzante, the same company responsible for converting the McLaren P1 GTR for road use, is now offering a street-legal conversion for the RB17.

This conversion won’t come cheap, though. Future owners looking to take the RB17 out on the streets will need to shell out an additional £500,000 ($650,000) to ensure the hypercar meets road car regulations. Despite the challenges posed by the RB17’s aerodynamics and design, Lanzante is committed to preserving the essence of the original car as much as possible.

The street-legal RB17 is expected to gain some weight compared to its track version, but with over 1,200 hp under the hood, it remains a high-performance beast. The car’s V-10 engine, capable of revving up to 15,000 rpm, delivers an impressive 1,000 hp to the rear wheels, with an additional 200 hp coming from an electric motor. This powertrain allows the RB17 to reach a top speed of 217 mph.

While production of the standard RB17 is set to begin in 2025, the conversion process to make the hypercar street-legal will likely take several months. Lanzante’s track record with converting track cars for road use, such as the Pagani Zonda Revolucion, suggests that the company will spare no effort in ensuring the RB17 meets all road regulations while maintaining its impressive performance capabilities.

As enthusiasts eagerly await the first street-legal RB17 to hit the roads, it’s clear that this hypercar is set to redefine what it means to drive a high-performance vehicle on public streets. With its blend of cutting-edge technology, race-inspired design, and jaw-dropping performance, the Red Bull RB17 is sure to turn heads wherever it goes.
