Lucid Motors, a California-based startup, is gearing up for the production of its Gravity SUV later this year, but that doesn’t mean they are neglecting their Air sedan. For the 2025 model year, Lucid is making some significant updates to the Air lineup, including increasing the range of the Pure base model to 420 miles on a single charge. Interestingly, despite reducing the battery capacity from 88.0 kWh to 84.0 kWh, Lucid claims that the 2025 Air Pure is actually the most energy-efficient vehicle ever, achieving 5.0 miles per kWh and earning a 146-MPGe rating from the EPA.

The smaller battery pack not only allows Lucid to build more cars with the same raw materials but also reduces the strain on the public power grid during recharging. In addition, the smaller battery pack provides more miles of range while consuming less energy. While the 2025 Pure sees an increase in range, the Touring and Grand Touring models experience a slight drop in range for the new model year due to changes in EPA testing processes.

For 2025, Lucid has made the heat pump, initially introduced in the Air Sapphire model, standard across the entire Air lineup. The company has also included new-generation control hardware in every 2025 Air, which should enhance the infotainment system with three times the processing power and twice as much memory. Moreover, the DreamDrive driver assistance system, which includes features like blind-spot monitoring and a 3-D surround view, is now standard on all models.

The Lucid Air Grand Touring model also comes with the Surreal Sound Pro sound system as standard. Despite these enhancements, the pricing remains unchanged for the Pure model at $71,400, while the Touring and Grand Touring models see a $1000 increase, priced at $80,400 and $112,400 respectively. Lucid has announced that orders for the 2025 models are now open.

In addition to these updates, Lucid has also focused on sustainability and energy efficiency with the 2025 Air lineup. By reducing battery capacity while increasing range, the company is aiming to make electric vehicles more resource-efficient and environmentally friendly. The inclusion of the heat pump as a standard feature further enhances the energy efficiency of the vehicles, making them more appealing to eco-conscious consumers.

Overall, the 2025 Lucid Air lineup represents a significant step forward in electric vehicle technology, offering improved range, energy efficiency, and standard features across all models. With these updates, Lucid is setting a new standard for luxury electric vehicles and paving the way for a more sustainable automotive industry.
