Ford has issued a recall for the 2023 Mustang Mach-E, along with the 2023-2024 Maverick and the 2023 Bronco Sport, due to a faulty windshield wiper motor. A total of 37,371 vehicles are affected by this issue, which could lead to the wipers failing and causing reduced visibility while driving.
The problem was discovered on April 16, when Ford realized that water could seep into the motor because of a sealant application error. This could result in the wiper motor becoming inoperative, putting drivers at risk of accidents.
The faulty motors were produced on specific dates by a supplier, affecting a total of 2,142 units. The Mach-E and Maverick models were built in June 2023, while the Maverick and Bronco Sport models were produced in September 2023. Additionally, the impacted Mach-E vehicles were manufactured in Mexico between July 3-17, 2023, totaling 3,603 affected cars.
The Maverick trucks were assembled in Mexico from June 20 to September 29, 2023, and the Bronco Sport SUVs were built at the same plant from September 3 to October 6, 2023. These popular models make up the remainder of the recalled vehicles.
Although Ford has received 81 warranty reports related to this issue, there have been no reported accidents or injuries so far. The company will cover the cost of repairs for affected owners, who can take their vehicles to Ford dealers for inspection and potential replacement of the windshield wiper motor.
Ford is set to notify owners about the recall on August 26, and affected individuals can also reach out to Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 with reference to recall number 24S51 for further assistance.
In light of this announcement, it is crucial for owners of the 2023 Mustang Mach-E, Maverick, and Bronco Sport to stay informed and take action to ensure their safety and the safety of others on the road. Regular maintenance checks and prompt response to recalls are essential practices for all vehicle owners to guarantee a smooth and secure driving experience.
