So, like, if you went back in time to 2000 and told someone that Toyota and Lexus were gonna be all about building cars the old-fashioned way in 25 years, they’d be like, “Are you from another planet or what?” But fast forward to 2025, and boom, Lexus drops a new sedan on us. Is the world upside down, or is it just me? Honestly, I’m cool with either option.

Lexus is really rolling with this new look, and while we’re not expecting a total overhaul of the midsize ES, it’s clear that Toyota’s fancy brand is trying to catch the eye of younger buyers with some fresh metal. Some angles make it look sleek and hot, but that front end is doing some funky stuff that probably works better on a Prius.
The interior is a whole new vibe too. The wood accents on the doors are a nice touch, but other than that, it’s looking pretty bare bones. Maybe Lexus is going for that crowd who digs Tesla’s ultra-minimalist style, but we’re not totally sold that this cabin will win over the usual luxury car shopper. That steering wheel looks like a chunk of plastic with some buttons stuck on it and kinda reminds me of a bumper car wheel. Well, at least it’s not a yoke, right?

Say goodbye to the gas ES for this round, ’cause this baby is only coming in hybrid or electric versions, with the option for front- or all-wheel-drive. The base 350h hybrid rocks Toyota’s 2.5-liter four-cylinder, but if you go for the electric model, the 350e gets juice from a single front motor, while the 500e gets an extra motor in the back. No word on how fast these rides will be, but bet on the 500e packing more punch than the 350e.
Lexus says the 2026 ES hits the market next year, so we’ll be getting more deets soon enough. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m kinda curious to see what else they’ve got up their sleeve.
