Vermont’s Lieutenant Governor John Rodgers is all up in arms about a dirt road in his tiny hometown of Glover. He’s threatening legal action against the selectboard if they don’t hand over a section of Rodgers Road to him personally. The road has been a public right-of-way for ages, but Rodgers wants to make a Class 4 section of it his own private trail. Not really sure why this matters, but it seems like a big deal to him.
The road in question isn’t a major highway; there’s another road nearby that people can use. But Rodgers is fixated on this particular stretch of road and is ready to take the town to court if they don’t comply with his demands. He seems pretty adamant about shutting down the road to motorized vehicles if he doesn’t get his way. Maybe it’s just me, but this all seems like a lot of drama over a little dirt road.
Glover’s selectboard and the Lt. Governor seem to be at a standoff, with Rodgers threatening legal action if they don’t give in to his demands. It’s a classic case of he said, she said, with both sides digging in their heels. Not really sure why they can’t just work this out like adults, but hey, who am I to judge? At the end of the day, it’s just a two-mile stretch of gravel road in a small town in Vermont. Maybe they should all take a deep breath and figure out a way to move forward without all the drama.
