Maserati recently announced the launch of two special edition models of the MC20 supercar in honor of the 20th anniversary of its MC12 hypercar. The MC12, which made its debut in 2004, utilized components from the Ferrari Enzo and played a significant role in establishing Maserati’s presence in motorsport after a period of dormancy.

The two new special versions of the MC20, named Icona and Leggenda, pay tribute to the brand’s rich racing history. The Icona model features a livery inspired by the MC12 Stradale’s iconic white-and-blue color scheme, as well as elements from the Maserati Birdcage Tipo 61, a legendary race car from the 1960s. It comes equipped with unique badges, an Italian flag, chrome-plated wheels, blue brake callipers, and a carbon-fiber engine cover, distinguishing it from the standard MC20 models.

On the other hand, the MC20 Leggenda boasts a striking ‘Nero Essenza and Digital Mint Matte’ color combination, reminiscent of the MC12 GT1 race car. It stands out with a yellow Maserati badge, special trident wheels, and black brake callipers. Both special edition models feature lightweight racing seats, an upgraded Sonus stereo system, carbon fiber accents, and special floor mats. Additionally, they come standard with an electronic limited-slip differential and a suspension lifter for navigating speed bumps and parking lots with ease.

These new special editions showcase Maserati’s commitment to celebrating its heritage while continuing to innovate in the world of high-performance supercars. The brand’s ‘Fuoriserie’ personalization program allows customers to tailor their vehicles to their preferences, adding a touch of exclusivity to these already unique models.

As Maserati looks back on two decades of the MC12’s legacy, these new special edition MC20 models serve as a testament to the brand’s enduring passion for performance and design excellence. With each model paying homage to different aspects of Maserati’s racing heritage, enthusiasts and collectors alike can appreciate the craftsmanship and attention to detail that defines these limited-run supercars.
