Audi has unveiled its latest electric A6 model, which includes a high-performance S6 variant with 543bhp power output. Additionally, there are plans for a more powerful RS6 version in the future. This new A6 is offered in Sportback or Avant versions and is exclusively electric, following Audi’s trend for even-numbered models to be electric. The new A6 lineup features two powertrain options, including rear and all-wheel drive models.

The A6 is built on the same PPE platform as the recently announced Q6 e-tron, resulting in a design that may appear somewhat awkward with its unique proportions. The vehicle is equipped with an 800v architecture and 270kW fast charging as standard. The battery and motor packs of the A6 are similar to those in the Q6 e-tron model, offering reliability and efficiency.

The S6 model comes with a new 94.9kWh battery that boasts improved cell density by 30 percent compared to previous models. In normal mode, the S6 delivers 496bhp, which increases to 543bhp when utilizing the launch control function. The power is sent to the rear axle through a permanent magnet-synchronous motor with torque vectoring, along with a secondary motor on the front axle. The S6 can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 140mph.

The A6 lineup includes various trim levels such as Sport, S Line, and Edition 1 trims. The entry-level model features a 281bhp motor powered by an 83kWh battery, offering a range of 379 miles. The regular A6 models designated as ‘Performance’ will be equipped with steel springs and adaptive dampers, while the S6 model will receive advanced adaptive air-suspension for a smoother ride.

One of the key highlights of the A6 is its impressive range, with single motor models capable of achieving over 466 miles due to its aerodynamic design. The vehicle’s exterior design maintains a familiar look to Audi’s ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) models, avoiding the need for a distinct electric car design language. Inside, the A6 features a large screen for the driver and a secondary unit for the passenger, both made with sustainable materials.

While prices for the UK market are yet to be confirmed, the entry-level A6 models are expected to start around £65,000. The high-performance S6 model is estimated to be priced close to £100,000. With the new Audi A6 lineup, Audi continues to push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology, offering a blend of performance, range, and luxury in their latest models.
