In 1998, Mercedes-Benz introduced the M-Class luxury SUV in the U.S., setting the stage for the mainstream luxury SUV segment. However, it was BMW that truly captured the market with the launch of the X5 in 2000. To commemorate 25 years of the X5, BMW is releasing a limited-edition X5 Silver Anniversary Edition.

This special edition X5 is based on the xDrive40i trim and comes in a unique BMW Individual Lime Rock Grey Metallic color. It features bi-color 20-inch M Star-spoke wheels from the M Sport Package, along with Extended Shadowline trim that darkens the exterior accents. The interior is upgraded with carbon fiber trim typically found in the X5 M60i and X5 M Competition models.

To highlight the off-road capabilities of the X5 Silver Anniversary Edition, BMW offers an exclusive xOffroad Package. This package includes an air suspension, underbody skid plates, and a mechanical locking rear differential. The SUV also comes with an off-road camera setting that displays trail information on the infotainment screen at speeds below 22 miles per hour.

Buyers can choose from interior Sensafin fabric options in Black, Cognac, Coffee, or Silverstone. The X5 Silver Anniversary Edition also includes the Live Cockpit Professional system with a heads-up display and BMW Maps navigation with augmented reality. The Premium Package adds features like Harman-Kardon surround sound audio, heated front seats and armrests, remote engine start, and a trailer hitch.

Each X5 Silver Anniversary Edition will feature special badging and BMW plans to produce approximately 1,000 units. The starting price for this limited edition model is $81,175 after destination, which is $12,000 more than the standard X5 xDrive40i. Production is set to begin in August, so interested buyers should act quickly to secure one of these exclusive models.
