The new Volkswagen ID.7 GTX hatchback has been unveiled, completing the GTX range which also includes the Tourer estate version. This hatchback model comes with various upgrades, starting with a powerful dual-motor setup and an 86kWh battery pack that produces a maximum of 335bhp. The rear motor can generate 281bhp, while the front motor can produce 107bhp, indicating the power bias of the vehicle.
In terms of performance, the ID.7 GTX hatchback can accelerate from 0-62mph in 6.0 seconds, similar to the Tourer version. Both motors are equipped with an XDS+ electronic differential lock system that efficiently distributes power without engaging the traction or stability systems. Volkswagen aims to achieve a WLTP range of approximately 375 miles, although official testing is still pending.
The battery pack of the GTX hatchback has been upgraded to allow faster charging speeds of up to 200kW on a DC fast charge, compared to 175kW in the non-GTX ID.7 model. Charging the battery from 10-80% capacity will now take less than 30 minutes, thanks to intelligent battery management and active pre-conditioning. The vehicle also features unique design elements such as darker trim, new bumpers, and optional 20 or 21-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the ID.7 GTX hatchback boasts a darker interior finish with red accents on the seats. An innovative electrochromic panoramic roof is available as an option, allowing the driver to adjust its transparency with the touch of a button. This feature, previously seen in luxury vehicles like the Maybach 57 and 62, adds a touch of sophistication to the hatchback model.
The ID.7 GTX hatchback will be joining the Tourer and other GTX models later this year, but it is expected to come with a hefty price tag of over £65,000 in the UK. With its blend of performance, range, and design, the Volkswagen ID.7 GTX hatchback offers an enticing option for electric vehicle enthusiasts looking for a stylish and powerful ride in the growing EV market.
