Morgan has teamed up with Pininfarina, an Italian design house, to create the Midsummer, which is a barchetta based on Morgan’s latest CX-generation platform. This collaboration brings together the expertise of both companies in coachbuilding and results in a unique and exclusive model. With only 50 units set to be produced, the Midsummer is sure to be a rare sight on the roads.

Under the hood, the Midsummer shares the same bonded aluminium architecture as the Plus Six model, featuring a BMW-derived 3-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine and an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. While specific performance figures have not been released, it is expected to offer similar output to the Plus Six, which boasts 335bhp, 369lb ft of torque, and a 0-62mph time of 4.2 seconds.

The focus of the Midsummer is not just on performance but also on its stunning coachbuilt body. Drawing inspiration from Pininfarina designs of the 1930s and ’40s, the Midsummer features hand-formed aluminium bodywork with unique proportions and a striking teak exterior detail. The bodywork of each Midsummer model requires 250 hours of craftsmanship, showcasing the attention to detail and craftsmanship that goes into creating this special vehicle.

In addition to its eye-catching design, the Midsummer comes equipped with adjustable Nitron dampers and a set of 19-inch forged wheels to reduce weight and enhance performance. The interior of the Midsummer also features teak elements, with the dashboard crafted from 126 layers of wood. Unique touches such as off-white analogue dials and a forged aluminum center steering wheel further set the Midsummer apart from other Morgan models.

While the Morgan Midsummer will be officially unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, all 50 units have already been spoken for before its public debut. Production of the Midsummer is set to begin in the third quarter of 2024, adding to the exclusivity of this limited-run model. The Midsummer represents a blend of British and Italian craftsmanship, resulting in a truly special and unique sports car that is sure to turn heads wherever it goes.
