Mazda has recently issued a recall for certain models of their CX-90 and CX-70 SUVs due to software-related issues. This recall affects a total of 81,000 models with faulty dashboard electrical supply units and an additional 45,000 models with software problems that could lead to a loss of drive power. The automaker has assured that all necessary repairs will be covered under warranty, and affected owners will be notified by the end of the year.

The recall was prompted by reports of faulty dashboard electronics and software issues that could impact the performance of the vehicles. Specifically, the faulty dashboard electrical supply unit affects over 80,000 models, causing issues with essential functions such as the defroster, seatbelt warning, camera system, and battery cooling system. Owners will be contacted to bring their vehicles to a Mazda dealer for a free reprogramming of the dashboard’s ESU software to address this issue.

In addition to the dashboard electrical supply unit problem, there are two other recalls affecting a smaller number of CX-90 and CX-70 models. These recalls are considered more serious as the faulty software could result in a loss of drive power. One of the recalls involves 30,488 models where the powertrain control module and engine control module may malfunction, requiring reprogramming by a Mazda dealer. This repair will also be covered under warranty, with owners expected to be notified by December 30.

The third recall pertains to 14,902 plug-in hybrid models with improper inverter software, leading to warning light malfunctions and a loss of drive power in EV mode. Owners are advised to schedule an appointment with their local dealer for the installation of improved inverter software to resolve the issue. This repair, like the others, will be provided free of charge, and owners will be informed of the necessary steps to take.

Mazda’s commitment to addressing these software-related issues in a timely manner reflects their dedication to ensuring the safety and reliability of their vehicles. By covering all repairs under warranty and notifying owners promptly, the automaker is taking proactive steps to rectify the situation and minimize any inconvenience to customers. If you own a 2024-2025 CX-90 or 2025 CX-70, make sure to stay informed about the recall and follow the instructions provided by Mazda to have your vehicle repaired as soon as possible.
