Ford Australia has introduced the 2024 Ford Ranger Tremor special edition, designed to bring an off-road focus in a value-driven package to Australian showrooms. This model, set to arrive in September, is a four-wheel drive dual-cab priced at $69,690 before on-road costs.
The Ranger Tremor will be powered by a 150kW/500Nm 2.0-litre bi-turbo four-cylinder turbo diesel engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive. It marks the second non-V6 Ranger variant to feature this advanced four-wheel drive setup, following the Wildtrak X. The price of the Ranger Tremor is $50 more than a regular Ranger Wildtrak but $4300 less than the sold-out Wildtrak X model.
This special edition Ranger takes inspiration from the Ford F-150 Tremor variant in the US, known for its off-road capabilities. It will join the lineup as the ninth Ranger trim level available in showrooms, with the possibility of a new ‘Super Duty’ model in 2025. The Ranger continues to maintain its position as Australia’s best-selling vehicle.
The Ranger Tremor is based on the mid-level Ranger Sport model but includes full-time four-wheel drive, heavy-duty off-road suspension with Bilstein dampers, and one-inch smaller 17-inch ’Asphalt Black’ alloy wheels with General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tires. These features provide 26mm more ground clearance than the Ranger Sport, totaling 260mm, second only to the Ranger Raptor.
In terms of performance, the Ranger Tremor includes a heavy-duty steering tune, Trail Control 3 for slow-speed off-roading, Rock Crawl drive mode, and Trail Turn Assist for managing tight corners off-road. Despite these enhancements, the Tremor maintains its 3500kg tow-rating.
Visually, the Ranger Tremor stands out with a honeycomb grille, auxiliary LED headlights, steel bash-plate, cast aluminum side-steps, ‘long-legged’ sports bar, and Tremor badging. Customers can choose from six color options, with most colors incurring an additional $700 cost.
Inside, the Tremor features branded all-weather mats and a roof-mounted overhead auxiliary bank for connecting aftermarket accessories. Optional packages include the Touring Pack, Flexible Rack system, and Manual Roller Shutter, with the option to remove the Auto Start/Stop system at no extra cost.
Overall, the 2024 Ford Ranger Tremor special edition offers a combination of off-road performance, visual enhancements, and practical features, making it a compelling choice for Australian customers looking for adventure-ready vehicles.
