The 2025 Mitsubishi Triton line-up in Australia has received an upgrade with the introduction of a new mid-spec GLX-R variant. This new addition comes with several enhancements, including a dual-strut tailgate assist function that makes opening and closing the tailgate easier.
The Triton GLX-R comes with a range of features, including the Super Select II 4WD system, which is also available in the GLS and GSR variants. With 4WD capability on sealed surfaces and selectable drive modes, the GLX-R offers a versatile driving experience. Additionally, the GLX-R is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, black exterior trim, a sports bar, door body moldings, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and carpet flooring.
Priced at $56,740 before on-road costs, the Triton GLX-R sits between the GLX+ and the GLS variants in the Triton line-up. It is $3450 more expensive than the GLX+ dual-cab pick-up it is based on, but $2350 more affordable than the GLS.
In response to customer and dealer feedback, Mitsubishi has added an additional strut to the tailgate of the GLX-R, GLS, and GSR models. This enhancement helps to dampen the tailgate for a soft-release opening and smoother closing.
Under the hood, the 2025 Mitsubishi Triton GLX-R is powered by a 2.4-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 150kW and 470Nm of torque. This represents an increase in power and torque compared to the previous model. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Triton GLX-R is available now, with the updated GLS and GSR variants set to arrive in the coming weeks. Customers can also look forward to the release of single and club-cab variants of the Mitsubishi Triton line-up between January and March 2025. However, the availability of manual transmission versions is yet to be confirmed.
