Ariel has come a long way since its road-focused Atom, with the release of the Nomad in 2015 and now the Nomad 2, which is a second-generation model that has been greatly improved. The Nomad 2 has been enhanced in various ways, including a stiffer frame with larger tubing, a longer wheelbase, wider track, and more room in the cockpit for easier access.

One of the most significant upgrades in the Nomad 2 is the engine, which is now a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder from the Ford Focus ST. This engine provides more power than the previous Honda engines, with the base model offering 260 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque. An optional upgrade can increase these numbers to either 302 hp and 333 lb-ft or 305 hp and 382 lb-ft. The Nomad 2 also comes with a choice between a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional Quaife six-speed sequential transmission.

Despite the increase in power, the Nomad 2 still weighs around 1,550 pounds, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.4 seconds. The larger rotors with ABS help the vehicle stop quickly, while the improved cooling system and intake air filtering ensure the engine runs smoothly. The suspension system has also been upgraded with fully sealed bushings and ball joints, providing 50% more travel and reducing squat, pitch, and wallow.

The body of the Nomad 2 is made from durable plastic, making it lightweight and sturdy. The interior has also been improved with features like a wing-shaped header rail, lightweight seats available in different widths, and an easy-to-use switchgear. The options list for the Nomad 2 includes over 100 items for customization, such as a winch and in-cockpit brake bias controls.

While the price for the Nomad 2 in North America has not been revealed, it is expected to be over $90,000 based on the previous model’s starting price. With all the upgrades and improvements made to the Nomad 2, it is sure to be a hit among off-road enthusiasts looking for a powerful and customizable vehicle.
