BMW has recently updated its 2-series coupe for the year 2024, with the M240i model now offering 369bhp from a turbocharged straight-six engine. The G42-generation BMW 2-series coupe, launched three years ago, has received a mid-life facelift with various enhancements to align it with the latest BMW lineup. These updates include new interior technology, chassis improvements, and design modifications for the popular two-door coupe. The new models will be available for purchase in August, with prices starting at £38,040 for the base 220i and £48,045 for the M240i xDrive range-topper.

One of the notable changes in the updated lineup is the addition of an updated pearlescent chrome finish on the grille surrounds, along with body-colored lower trim elements replacing the previous black trim. The M240i comes with a standard Shadow Line kit that includes black intake surrounds, wing mirrors, and aero elements, while the optional M Sport Pro package offers darkened, adaptive LED lights and M Sport brakes.

The M240i xDrive retains its standard 19-inch wheels, now available in black or diamond cut finishes, while the entry-level 220i comes with a set of 18-inch wheels at no extra cost. The updated lineup also introduces several new paint options, such as BMW Individual Frozen Grey, Frozen Portimao, Fire Red, Skyscraper Grey, and Zandvoort Blue, which is exclusively available on the M240i model.

Inside the cabin, the updates are equally subtle, with a new flat-bottomed steering wheel being the most noticeable change. The M240i features a unique red center marking on the steering wheel and BMW M-themed contrast stitching. The dashboard incorporates a curved display consisting of 12.3-inch and 14.9-inch screens running BMW’s Operating System 8.5, along with new physical air vent controls and updated ambient lighting.

Standard features in the cabin include M PerformTex seats in black, with the option to upgrade to BMW’s perforated Sensatec material available in black, cognac, or a new Tacora Red color. Additionally, customers can choose from open-pore wood and carbon fiber trim options, as well as ‘CraftedClarity’ switchgear that includes a glass start/stop button and iDrive controller.

The 220i and 230i models are powered by the same 2-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering 181bhp and 242bhp, respectively. Both models send power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, with 0-62mph times of 7.5 seconds and 5.9 seconds, respectively. At the top of the range, the M240i xDrive produces 369bhp and 369lb ft of torque, enabling a 0-62mph time of 4.3 seconds and a limited top speed of 155mph.

Interested buyers can now place their orders for the new BMW 2-series coupe, with prices starting at £38,040 for the 220i, £41,905 for the 230i, and £48,045 for the range-topping M240i xDrive. Notably, the price of the M240i xDrive is £1180 lower than its predecessor. Customer deliveries are expected to commence next month.
