Ford is taking its littlest Bronco and turning it into a little monster with the introduction of the Sasquatch off-road package. The teaser shared on Instagram shows a mud-covered Bronco Sport with hints of what the package will offer. An enormous hairy arm makes an appearance in the video, along with grunts from the mysterious creature, as it writes out “8/26.” This indicates that a full reveal of the Sasquatch package is scheduled for August 26.
While the Sasquatch package on the full-size Bronco includes features like locking differentials, 35-inch mud-terrain tires, Bilstein shocks, and larger fender flares, it remains to be seen if the same will apply to the Bronco Sport. Spy photos of a camouflaged Bronco Sport prototype suggest that there may be some variations in the formula for the smaller SUV.
The prototype spotted in May showcased additional metal armor on the bumpers and a noticeable suspension lift compared to other Sport models. Although the tire size remains the same as the Badlands model, the tread pattern appears more aggressive, hinting at a different compound for enhanced performance.
It is expected that the Sasquatch package will be exclusive to the Badlands trim, which already comes equipped with a torque-vectoring rear differential. The possibility of new drive modes or an upgraded front differential, such as a mechanical limited-slip unit, is also on the table. However, these additional features are likely to come at an extra cost, potentially driving up the price of the mini Sasquatch beyond the starting price of the Badlands model, which is just under $40,000.
Overall, the anticipation for the Sasquatch package on the Ford Bronco Sport is high, as enthusiasts await the full reveal and detailed specifications of this off-road upgrade. With its rugged design and promising off-road capabilities, the mini Sasquatch could be a game-changer in the compact SUV segment. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the August 26 unveiling event.
