Hyundai is set to shake up the electric car market with its new urban-friendly Inster EV. This vehicle boasts an impressive range of up to 220 miles, which is nearly double what the Dacia Spring can offer. The anticipated starting price for the Inster is around £22,000.

Equipped with a 42kWh battery as standard, the Inster also offers a larger 49kWh layout known as the ‘Long Range’ version. This model is expected to have a range of 4.1mi/kWh, surpassing the Dacia Spring. The base model can cover 180 miles on a single charge.

In terms of performance, the standard Inster comes with a 96bhp electric motor, while the Long Range version boasts 113bhp. This power allows the Inster to accelerate from 0-62mph in 10.6 seconds, with a top speed of 87mph or 93mph depending on the model.

The Inster is equipped with a 120kW maximum DC charging rate, enabling a 10-80% charge in just 30 minutes. With an 11kW AC charging capability, the larger battery can be fully charged in four hours and 35 minutes. Additionally, the Inster features Vehicle to Load (V2L) technology.

In terms of design, the Inster has been slightly elongated compared to the petrol-powered Casper, providing a spacious interior. The unique proportions and bold front end set the Inster apart from other Hyundai EV models. The car features cladding along the sills and wheel arches, giving it a pseudo-SUV style.

Inside the cabin, the Inster offers fold-flat seating for all four seats and a front cabin with a unique layout. The dashboard features twin 10.25-inch displays with navigation and wireless phone charging. Safety features include an around-view monitor, blind-spot warning, and autonomous emergency braking.

Hyundai has focused on sustainability with the Inster, incorporating recycled materials in the interior. The vehicle will first launch in the Korean market before making its way to Europe in the future. The Inster will be available in a range of exterior colors and interior trims.

The Inster is expected to hit British dealerships by 2025, with plans for a more rugged Inster Cross model in the pipeline. With its impressive range, affordable price, and unique design, the Hyundai Inster is poised to make a significant impact in the electric car market. Stay tuned for more updates on this innovative vehicle.
