Lamborghini has announced that the successor to the Huracán will be getting a new bespoke engine, and it looks like it will be truly impressive. The new model, codenamed ‘Lamborghini 634’, will debut later this year as the company’s second new-age, two-seat supercar. It will share a hybrid powertrain and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with its V12 sibling, the Revuelto.

Instead of the fire-breathing 6.5-litre V12, the Huracán’s replacement will feature a 4-litre twin-turbocharged flat-plane crankshaft V8 engine that revs up to an incredible 10,000rpm. This V8 engine will produce 789bhp between 9000 and 9750rpm, with torque at 538lb ft between 4000 and 7000rpm. This is a significant upgrade from the most powerful version of the Huracán’s V10, which had 631bhp and 417lb ft.

The new engine will also have three electric motors, one of which will contribute 148bhp and 221lb ft on its own. While the performance numbers have not been disclosed yet, with a faster transmission, electric motors, and a higher peak output, the new Huracán replacement is expected to be quite powerful. The Huracán Tecnica, powered by a V10, could do 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 202mph, so the new model is likely to surpass these figures.

Sound is also a key focus for the new engine, with Lamborghini promising a ‘unique and distinctive’ character. The 10,000rpm V8 is expected to make an incredible noise, living up to the legacy of its predecessor. More details about the powertrain and the new Huracán replacement will be revealed later this year at the model’s official unveiling.

In the world of supercars, the competition is fierce, with new models constantly pushing the boundaries of performance and technology. Lamborghini’s decision to replace the iconic V10 engine with a high-revving V8 shows their commitment to innovation and excellence in engineering. Car enthusiasts and fans of the brand will undoubtedly be eagerly awaiting the official debut of the new Huracán replacement to see how it performs on the road and on the track. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in the world of high-performance sports cars.
