Pirelli has introduced a new tire option specifically designed for the Ferrari Enzo, known as the P Zero Corsa System. This new compound has been developed in partnership with Ferrari at the Fiorano test track to provide modern levels of performance and grip for the V12 supercar. The tire features the same tread pattern, size, and aspect ratio as the original tires, with front tires measuring 245mm in width and rear tires measuring a substantial 345mm.
The tread of the P Zero Corsa System tire includes two directional and asymmetric patterns to effectively clear water at high speeds. The modern compound makeup of the rubber offers improved grip compared to the original tires, which is essential when utilizing the Enzo’s full 650bhp power output from the 6-liter V12 engine through the rear wheels.
In response to the growing popularity of the classic car tire market, other tire manufacturers like Michelin are also developing new products to suit the suspension geometry and handling characteristics of older vehicles. These new tires often feature a more rounded carcass with a smaller contact patch to reduce steering effort and provide smoother breakaway characteristics at the grip limit.
Although the Enzo falls into the modern classic category, Pirelli is also working on modernized P7 Cinturatos for the Ferrari 288 GTO, as well as Corsa tires for the F40 and F50 models. These tires maintain retro-style lettering and tread patterns to preserve the original appearance while enhancing performance with new rubber technology.
While the prices for the new Corsa tires for the Enzo have not been officially confirmed, it is anticipated that they will come at a premium due to their bespoke nature and Ferrari’s approval. These specialized tires are designed to optimize the Enzo’s performance and handling capabilities, catering to enthusiasts and collectors who seek the best for their prized supercar.
