Porsche has announced a global recall of Taycan electric vehicles due to a problem with the front brake hose that could lead to brake fluid leakage and reduced braking power. This recall affects Taycan models manufactured between 2020 and 2025, with nearly 32,000 vehicles in the United States being impacted.

The issue with the front brake hoses is caused by compression during certain steering and driving maneuvers, which can damage the inner lining and result in cracking. If a brake fluid leak occurs, warning messages such as “Brake Fluid Low” or “PSM Failure” will be displayed on the dashboard.

To address this issue, Porsche will be notifying dealers on July 3rd and owners on August 16th. Dealers will replace the front brake hoses with a redesigned version that has a larger bending radius to reduce stress during driving. The repair will be done at no cost to the owners, and those who have already paid for the fix will be reimbursed.

It is important to note that while there is a potential for front brake failure, Porsche has confirmed that the rear brakes will continue to function properly. Fortunately, there have been no reported accidents in the United States related to this brake issue. However, there was a crash in another location involving a Taycan traveling at high speed in a low-speed zone.

This proactive recall by Porsche demonstrates their commitment to ensuring the safety and reliability of their vehicles. Owners of affected Taycan models should pay attention to the warning signs of brake fluid leakage and contact their nearest dealer for the necessary repairs. Remember, safety should always be the top priority when it comes to vehicle maintenance and performance.
