Red Bull, known for its energy drinks, has made a surprising entry into the hypercar market with the RB17 model. This hypercar, with 1,200 horsepower, was revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The development of the RB17 was led by Adrian Newey, the chief technical officer of the Red Bull Formula One team. The car boasts a sleek design, low to the ground and wide, resembling a vehicle you would see at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. Powered by a mid-mounted, naturally-aspirated V10 engine, the RB17 has a redline of 15,000 rpm and features a carbon fiber transmission and monocoque construction. Despite its powerful engine, the RB17 weighs less than 2,000 pounds, making it significantly lighter than a Mazda MX-5 Miata while delivering over six times the power. Red Bull promises that the hypercar will have lap times comparable to a Formula One car and a top speed exceeding 217 mph.
Limited to just 50 units, the RB17 will offer buyers the opportunity to customize various aspects of the car, including paint color, upholstery, and interior materials. While pricing details have not been officially announced, reports suggest that each RB17 could cost around £5 million, equivalent to $6.4 million. This price is said to cover maintenance costs as well. Owners of the RB17 will also have exclusive access to events such as track days on famous circuits worldwide, tailored specifically for the RB17 hypercar. With its impressive performance and unique customization options, the Red Bull RB17 is set to make a mark in the hypercar industry, showcasing the brand’s transition from energy drinks to high-performance vehicles.
