The 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed has come to an end, and it was a thrilling event with a variety of vehicles taking on the iconic 1.16-mile hill climb. Among the hundreds of cars that participated, there were some standout performers that made it into the top 10 fastest times of the weekend.
Starting off the list is the Lotus-Cosworth 77 Formula 1 car, which first raced in 1976. This classic car, driven by pro racing driver Nicholas Padmore, completed the course in 49.86 seconds, securing the 10th spot on the list.
Next up is the Ford Puma Rally1, a rally car that decided to tackle the hill climb instead of the rally stage. With a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine producing 380 horsepower, driver Adrian Formaux navigated the course in 49.82 seconds.
The Nissan Skyline GTR Calsonic, a legendary race car that debuted in Japan in 1993, showcased its power on the hill climb with a time of 48.91 seconds. This iconic car, now boasting close to 1,000 hp, continues to impress with its performance.
Making its first appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Czinger 21C, a supercar from California, set a new production road car record and secured a spot in the top 10 with a time of 48.83 seconds. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 2.88-liter flat-crank V-8 engine, the Czinger 21C delivers up to 1,250 horsepower.
The Alpine A110R Pikes Peak, designed for hill climbs, displayed its capabilities with a time of 48.19 seconds, driven by rally driver Raphael Astier. This agile car proved its worth on the challenging Goodwood course.
The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, known for its on-track performance, finished with a time of 48.05 seconds, thanks to British racing driver James Wallis. With a 4.0-liter flat-six engine producing 485 horsepower, this lightweight car is a force to be reckoned with.
Subaru’s GL Family Huckster, created specifically for the Goodwood Festival of Speed, became the fastest wagon to tackle the hill climb with a time of 47.50 seconds. Despite a minor incident involving hay barrels, driver Travis Pastrana showcased the car’s speed and agility.
The Gurney Eagle-Chevrolet FA74 Formula 5000 race car from 1974, powered by a 5.0-liter V-8 engine with 600 horsepower, impressed with a time of 47.34 seconds, earning a spot in the top three. Driven by racing driver Michael Lyons, this classic car proved that age is just a number when it comes to performance.
Subaru’s WRX: Project Midnight, featuring a 2.0-liter flat-four engine with 670 horsepower, took second place with a time of 45.15 seconds, driven by Scott Speed. This specialty vehicle made its debut at this year’s festival and left a lasting impression with its speed and power.
Finally, the fastest vehicle at Goodwood was Ford’s electric SuperVan 4.2, driven by Romain Dumas, with a remarkable hill climb time of 43.99 seconds. With 1,400 horsepower, this electric van defied expectations and showcased the potential of electric vehicles in the world of performance.
