Toyota recently unveiled its latest race car, the GR Corolla TC, at an event held at the GR Garage in Mooresville, North Carolina. This new addition to Toyota’s motorsports lineup is set to compete in the TC America series organized by SRO.
The GR Corolla TC is based on the production GR Corolla, featuring the same 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, eight-speed automatic transmission, and GR-Four all-wheel-drive system. While the production model produces 300 horsepower, the race car is expected to have similar power figures for the 2025 track-ready version.
To enhance performance on the track, Toyota has equipped the GR Corolla TC with a range of upgrades. These include six-piston front and two-piston rear brakes from Alcon, custom MacPherson struts by Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division, and dual-adjustable shocks from JRi. The car will also feature a Bosch Motorsports electronics system to manage the drivetrain, power distribution, and ABS.
Inside the cabin, the GR Corolla TC will be fitted with safety features such as an FIA-approved roll cage, an OMP fiberglass seat with a six-point harness, and an OMP electronically activated fire-extinguishing system. The exterior of the car will sport aerodynamic enhancements like a rear wing, rear diffuser, and front splitter.
The TC America series for which the GR Corolla TC is designed is a new series set to launch in 2025, combining the former TCX and TC classes into one competitive field. Toyota has promised to release more details regarding specifications and pricing for the race car in the near future.
In addition to its involvement in various motorsport events such as Formula 1, NASCAR, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Toyota continues to expand its presence in grassroots racing. The introduction of the GR Corolla TC adds another exciting dimension to Toyota’s racing portfolio, positioning the car between the GR86 Cup racer and the Supra GT4 in terms of performance and competition level.
Overall, the GR Corolla TC represents Toyota’s commitment to innovation and excellence in motorsports, offering enthusiasts and drivers a thrilling new option for competitive racing in the upcoming season. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new race car from Toyota.
