Travis Pastrana wowed the audience at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with his performance in the Hoonigan Huckster, a heavily modified 1983 Subaru GL Wagon. The event is known for its timed shootout, where vehicles of various eras compete in a friendly manner. Pastrana, a former motocross champion turned rallycross driver, understood the importance of putting on a show for the spectators and viewers worldwide.

The Huckster, equipped with an impressive 862-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine, made a strong start up the hillclimb but had to brake early for the first corner due to its speed. Despite the intense competition, Pastrana was fearless in his approach, even running off the pavement and into the hay at one point. The car’s active aero elements, carbon-fiber body panels, and WRC-spec spaceframe added to its performance on the course.

Unfortunately, disaster struck just 24 seconds into Pastrana’s run when he took the first left-hand corner too fast, causing the Huckster to slide off the track. Although the car was able to get back on course and finish the run, the chance of winning was lost. The Subaru had previously finished 5th in its debut in 2022 before gaining fame in Gymkhana 12.

Ultimately, Romain Dumas and the Ford Supervan 4.2 claimed victory at Goodwood with a time of 43.98 seconds, beating Scott Speed in the Subaru Project Midnight by 2 seconds. However, winning was not the main focus of the event. Goodwood serves as a tribute to the past, present, and future of motorsport, celebrating the rich history and innovation of the industry.
