Skoda has unveiled a special one-off edition of its Superb Estate, known as the Sleeper Edition, as a tribute to the outgoing third-generation model. This unique Superb is a departure from the typical performance car aesthetic, with no obvious visual cues to its impressive power underneath the hood.
Built and prepared by RE Performance, the same team behind the Skoda record car that reached 227mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats, the Sleeper Edition packs a punch with a highly-tuned version of the EA888 four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 470bhp at 6035rpm and 488lb ft at 3690rpm. This significant increase in power, almost 200bhp more than the standard model, is achieved through upgrades like a Garrett PowerMax turbocharger, enhanced fueling system, improved downpipe, intake, and intercooler.
Power is efficiently transmitted to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG gearbox, enhancing the Superb’s performance capabilities. While specific performance figures for the Sleeper Edition are not disclosed, it is expected to outpace the standard model’s 0-62mph time of 5.8 seconds and likely surpass the typical 155mph speed limiter.
To complement the increased power, the Sleeper Edition features upgraded dynamic elements including height-adjustable KW coilovers, high-spec AP Racing calipers gripping 390mm and 330mm discs at the front and rear respectively, and Yokohama Advan AO52 tires for enhanced grip and handling. The car’s exterior remains discreet, with a Royal Green paint finish and a luxurious Cognac leather interior, showcasing a blend of elegance and performance.
Equipped with top-level Laurin & Klement trim, the Sleeper Edition boasts a range of premium features such as a massage driver’s seat, a 9.2-inch infotainment display, Canton Sound System, tri-zone climate control, Matrix LED headlights, and more. Despite its performance enhancements, the Superb Estate retains its spacious 1950-litre load space with the rear seats folded down, maintaining its practicality.
As the third-generation Superb transitions to the fourth generation, Skoda celebrates the success of over 1.6 million units sold since its introduction in 2001, with the outgoing model accounting for 860,000 units, making it the most successful version to date. While the fourth-generation Superb has been on the market since June, the Sleeper Edition remains a one-off creation not intended for production but will join the Skoda press fleet for promotional purposes.
Future Prospects for Skoda Superb
With the fourth-generation Superb already available to consumers, Skoda continues its legacy of producing reliable, practical, and versatile vehicles that cater to a wide range of drivers. The Superb remains a flagship model for the brand, offering a blend of performance, comfort, and utility that sets it apart in the competitive automotive market.
Skoda’s commitment to innovation and technological advancement ensures that future iterations of the Superb will continue to push boundaries and meet the evolving needs of customers. With a focus on sustainability, efficiency, and connectivity, Skoda aims to maintain its position as a leading automotive manufacturer in the years to come.
Impact of Special Edition Models

These models often become sought-after collector’s items, adding to the brand’s prestige and desirability in the automotive industry.
Overall, the Skoda Superb Sleeper Edition represents the culmination of Skoda’s heritage, performance prowess, and dedication to excellence, making it a fitting tribute to the successful third-generation Superb model.
