Maserati recently unveiled two special edition MC20 sports cars in honor of the 20th anniversary of the iconic MC12. The MC20 Icona pays tribute to the MC12 Stradale road car, while the MC20 Leggenda draws inspiration from the MC12 GT1 race car. Both models feature unique liveries that reflect the spirit of the past.
The MC20 Icona boasts a striking two-tone paint job of Bianco Audace matte white and Blu Stradale, reminiscent of the MC12 Stradale. The blue trident logo and brake calipers add a pop of color against the chrome-plated wheels. On the other hand, the MC20 Leggenda sports a Nero Essenza and teal Digital Mint matte paint, paying homage to the MC12 GT1 Vitaphone race car with yellow trident logos and black brake calipers.
Under the hood, both special editions are powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine producing 621 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque. Despite having fewer cylinders than the MC12, the Icona and Leggenda can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds based on Car and Driver’s testing.
The interior of both models features four-way monocoque racing seats finished in blue and silver for the Icona and black and silver for the Leggenda. The mechanical components remain unchanged from the standard MC20, delivering a thrilling performance on the road.
Maserati plans to produce only 20 examples of each special edition globally, in honor of the brand’s return to racing 20 years ago. While the exact pricing has not been disclosed, it is expected to surpass the MC20’s base price of $242,995. The limited production numbers and exclusive design make these special edition MC20s highly desirable for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
