The Lamborghini Urus has always been a polarizing SUV, loved by many but also drawing criticism. Now, Lamborghini has introduced the Urus SE, an electrified version that aims to appeal to a wider audience and deliver even more speed. This new model features a plug-in V8 powertrain that packs a punch, boasting 789bhp, which is more powerful than the Aventador SVJ.
The heart of the Urus SE is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 612bhp on its own. This engine works in conjunction with a 189bhp electric motor that is integrated into the Urus’s eight-speed automatic gearbox. The result is a combined power output of 789bhp and 701lb ft of torque, surpassing the Urus S by 132bhp and 74lb ft of torque. With these impressive figures, the Urus SE can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds, faster than the Urus S, and reach a top speed of 194mph.
In addition to its power, the hybrid system in the Urus SE offers 37 miles of pure electric range. The SUV also features an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch that continuously adjusts the torque distribution between the front and rear wheels. Furthermore, an electronically-controlled limited slip differential at the back helps improve traction and throttle adjustability.
The Urus SE comes equipped with a variety of driving modes, including EV Drive, Hybrid, Performance, and Recharge, in addition to the existing modes available in the pure-petrol Urus. These modes adjust the air suspension, steering, and engine noise to provide different driving experiences. The Urus SE has been tuned by Lamborghini to offer increased comfort levels in everyday driving situations while also delivering a more aggressive character in sportier driving modes.
Visually, the Urus SE features several enhancements, including a redesigned front bumper, grille, and bonnet, as well as a new rear spoiler and diffuser. These changes contribute to a 35% increase in downforce over the Urus S. Inside the cabin, a new 12.3-inch infotainment display takes center stage on the dashboard, running a new HMI system with graphics inspired by the Revuelto.
While Lamborghini has not disclosed the pricing for the Urus SE, it is expected to be priced well above £200,000 when it becomes available for sale in the UK. With its blend of power, performance, and luxury, the Lamborghini Urus SE is set to make a statement in the competitive SUV market, offering a unique driving experience for those who seek the ultimate in performance and style.
